Event - The Economic Case for a Mental Health Regional Crisis Intervention Service in Northern Ireland

MHC report launch The Economic Case for a Mental Health Regional Crisis Intervention Service in Northern Ireland

Professor Siobhan O’Neill, Mental Health Champion commissioned Associate Professor David McDaid and Dr A-La Park from the London School of Economics and Political Science to create a report that established the economic case for developing a Regional Mental Health Crisis Service in Northern Ireland. The Mental Health Champion has consistently highlighted the urgent need for an effective and integrated crisis system, aligned with Actions 12 and 27 of the Mental Health Strategy.

Crisis needs often arise from situational pressures rather than mental illness, yet people in acute distress require rapid assessment by trained professionals, supported by clear and accessible referral pathways. The report is therefore needed to map current pathways, assess demand, estimate costs and benefits, and provide evidence‑based justification for implementing a regionally consistent, person‑centred crisis service.

The report launch takes place on Wednesday 24 June, 9.30 for 10.00 – 12.00.

If you would like to attend the conference, please RSVP to mhc.events@nigov.net
